This event, aimed at providing essential support for inmates, exceeded all expectations, boasting a larger turnout and an even more positive reception than its predecessors. In this blog post, we will delve into the success of the event, sharing the details of New Ethos Nottingham Housing's participation, and engaging with inmates from various locations across the East Midlands. Join us as we explore the collaborative efforts between HMP Nottingham and local organizations in ensuring inmates leave with the necessary foundations in place, including housing and employment opportunities.

Through meaningful conversations, New Ethos Nottingham Housing gained insight into the unique needs and aspirations of the inmates, further strengthening their commitment to providing essential housing solutions.

2. Collaborative Efforts:

The event showcased the collaborative spirit between HMP Nottingham and eight organizations, each providing stalls and tables of information to inmates. New Ethos Nottingham Housing, working closely with HMP Nottingham's resettlement team, played an integral role in offering crucial support to inmates in need of housing and employment opportunities. This collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive support system for inmates, addressing their immediate needs and setting them on a path to success upon release.

3. Costa Coffee Barista Training:

Inmates at HMP Nottingham are given the opportunity to learn the art of becoming a barista through training provided by Costa Coffee. This initiative equips inmates with valuable skills in the thriving coffee industry, empowering them to explore future employment opportunities. By fostering vocational training, HMP Nottingham prepares inmates for a smooth transition into the workforce, instilling a sense of confidence and self-sufficiency.

4. Bike Building and Maintenance:

HMP Nottingham's in-house training program focuses on teaching inmates how to build, maintain, and repair bicycles. This practical skill provides inmates with a tangible asset, opening doors to employment opportunities in bike shops or as independent mechanics. By offering vocational training in a practical and sustainable field, HMP Nottingham empowers inmates to develop valuable expertise and gain meaningful employment upon their release.

5. The Move-On Prison:

HMP Nottingham is a move-on prison, where inmates are not detained for extended periods. This model emphasizes preparing inmates for successful reintegration into society, placing a strong emphasis on housing and employment support. New Ethos Nottingham Housing's collaboration with HMP Nottingham's resettlement team ensures a seamless transition for inmates, connecting them with suitable housing options and employment opportunities tailored to their specific needs.
